Our beef with most so-called business software is that it's often poorly designed, hard to navigate, and of questionable value. If time is money, no one wants to waste time trying to figure out software that makes simple tasks much harder and more frustrating than they need to be. That's why we were pleasantly surprised by Whistler Small Business Software. This program packs an unusual number of essential business tools into an intuitive package that just about anyone can master.

The program started by having us configure our business information, and then a setup wizard walked us through the steps of adding customers, accounts, suppliers, and products and services. Are you so new to the business world that you're not even sure what those terms mean? The program will spell it out for you. Once that's done, it's easy to access the program's major features using a menu down the left side; items for Customers, Jobs, Suppliers, Employees, and Business Accounts keep everything handy. While Whistler Small Business Software doesn't cover every conceivable business task, it comes pretty close; the software lets users manage payments, credits, and refunds; jobs, estimates, and invoices; suppliers, purchasing, and products; employee time, and more. Because the program does have so many features for managing financial transactions, it would be helpful if users could import their banking information into the program instead of having to enter it by hand; this is perhaps Whistler's biggest limitation. But overall, we think that Whistler Small Business Software is a great choice for managing most of your major business functions, and we loved that we were up and running with it in a matter of minutes.

Whistler Small Business Software installs a desktop icon without asking and leaves a folder and desktop icon behind upon removal.
