Whisper is a juicy little social app that lets you reveal anything -- private thoughts, sinful secrets, darkest desires -- anonymously, in a nonjudgmental environment. It's like a support group where nobody knows your name.
Awesome functionality: Whisper lets you create posts with the tap of a button. Then just type your post and let Whisper select an accompanying photo and font, which you can alter by searching for a picture, taking your own, and experimenting with included fonts. Whisper then adds the tags for you, but feel free to add or subtract some before posting.
Streamlined interface: Scroll across the top headers: Latest, Popular, Nearby, and Featured. You'll discover a Pinterest-style confession board that you can scroll down to view the latest and greatest Whisper posts.
Privacy galore: When you sign up, Whisper generates a name for you, so your identity is its little secret. You can always change the name to something more suitable. That way anything you post remains anonymous. You can also click on compelling posts, like them, or respond to them -- also anonymously. To post or check your comments and messages, you must enter a PIN, which adds an extra level of protection.
Notifications: While Whisper is supposed to notify you every time you receive a like or a comment on your post, this did not always happen in our tests.
Whisper is a great app for those who have a juicy secret to unload but are afraid to do it more openly. It's also great for voyeurs who prefer to play spectator to others' secrets. Finally, Whisper may provide a new outlet for like-minded people to meet in a nonthreatening way.
