Editors' Review

by   / February 27, 2009

If you're an audio cowboy looking for a one-trick pony, you've come to the right place. WMA to MP3 Encoder does just what its name promises, converting WMA, WAV, and OGG files into MP3 files. The new version also can rip audio CDs and extract audio tracks from video files. In our testing, it did both jobs nicely. The program's straightforward, no-frills interface is specifically designed for batch conversions. A folder list appears on the left, allowing you to drag and drop all the files you want to convert into the window on the right. The program also is able to search through subfolders for additional audio files. While we like the simplicity of WMA to MP3 Encoder, the trial limitations make it difficult to test properly, as it only will process one file at a time. One file does not a batch make, so we can't say for sure whether WMA to MP3 Encoder is the thoroughbred it claims to be.
