SALSA (System for Automated Language and Speech Analysis) is an application for administering and collecting the results of cognitive test batteries such as picture description, picture naming, spontaneous narrative, and verbal fluency. The results of such tests can be assistive in assessment of conditions that affect cognition, including neurodegenerative disease and neurotoxic medications.SALSA is designed for test administrators, and allows for selection of the project, subject, and visit before allowing the test administrator to hand off the device to a subject to respond to visual and audio stimuli.SALSA uses a web service to administrate projects, subjects, and tests. The web service also receives the recordings made in tests in order to perform processing to determine analysis results. This work was supported in part by grants from NIH NINDS (R01NS076665), Alzheimers Association (DNCFI-12-242985), Geoffrey Beene Foundation Alzheimers Disease Challenge, and the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center Faculty Development Grant.
