Designed by Engineers for Engineers Easy as PieTransformer Calculation made easy!Transformer Pie calculates the full load currents and short circuit parameters of transformers. The App has two calculation options available, these being a simplified Quick Calculation and more detailed Full CalculationAll the equations used within the App together with a worked example are provided within the App to allow the user to understand how the output results have been calculated. This will allow the user to not just get an answer but to understand how the answer was derived.Quick Calculation:The Quick Calculation method calculates a Three Phase Transformers Three Phase Symmetrical Short Circuit current on the assumption that the upstream MV/HV network is an Infinite Bus, i.e. is capable of providing infinite fault power with an infinitely low impedance. This method provides the Transformers worst case short circuit kA current value.Considering the Upstream Network Power in lieu of the Infinite Bus method will reduce the calculated short circuit current. The effect of the upstream network on the Transformer can be considered by selecting the Full Calculation option.Typically the Infinite Bus Approach is used for determining the kA short circuit withstand rating of Main Switchboards and the like that are supplied directly from the Transformer.In addition, the Transformers secondary Full Load Current (FLC) is calculated together with its MVA Fault Power and Ohmic Impedance.Full Calculation:The Full Calculation method calculates a Three Phase Transformers Three Phase Symmetrical Short Circuit Current, Phase to Earth Short Circuit Current and Phase to Phase Short Circuit Current, with the option to model the upstream MV/HV network at a given MVA fault power.The option to model the upstream MV/HV network as an Infinite Bus, i.e. is capable of providing infinite fault power with an infinitely low impedance is also available within the Full Calculation option.Considering the Upstream Network Power in lieu of the Infinite Bus method will reduce the calculated short circuit currents as the impedance of the upstream network is considered.
