Area-preserving mappings model the dynamics of such systems as forced pendulums and the dynamics of stars in galacties and the flow of magnetic field lines. StdMap displays the orbits of 13 different such mappings which exhibit chaotic and regular dynamics. With the program you can find periodic orbits, stable manifolds and invariant circles/cantori, and iterate arbitrary curves.
