A Mediterranean Revival style of architecture emerged to decorate the shoreline of the young city. Today, much of that old resort town charm still exists. The architecture of the town, including many of the historic buildings, speaks to this elite crowd. Four of the sixteen stops are buildings that have been named to the United States National Register of Historic Places. Nevertheless, a modern St. Petersburg is emerging with restaurants, bars, entertainment, outdoor activities, arts, and new forms of architecture to take on the old resorts and Mediterranean Revival style.
