Sound English is for teens and adults who need a very basic literacy resource that is relevant to their interests while not being patronising. There are ten books at Preliminary Level. These have detailed illustrations that can be used to stimulate talk. The voices use an Australian accent. Students can click on individual words as well as listening to whole sentences. Common sight words are used to help students gain enough confidence to progress to Level One, which is based on sounds used in Australian pronunciation. Students can listen to a human voice reading the text in an Australian accent. Each word is underlined as it's being spoken. To hear any word spoken again in a different voice, just tap on it.
