The WIM format has spread in to the mainstream and administrators are drowning in images, yet there are few decent tools for working with them. Skeptics will claim that IMAGEX is the only tool they need. However, it does not let you partition and format a disk by itself. You need to use diskpart to accomplish this. It also utilizes a command line interface and does partition and format volumes. Using ImageX, you must partition a disk, format the partition, and mark the partition as bootable. The solution is SWIM (The SecretWeapon Image Manager), a completely functional UI for capturing, editing, and applying (including disk partitioning, formatting, and marking active) WIM images. It uses the same unique and intuitive user interface as their ImageMagic operating system image management software. SWIM allows you to capture, restore, and mount WIM (Windows Imaging Format) images. It will also partition and format hard drives with ease.
