Randy Shull works at the intersection of architecture, landscape design, furniture design and painting. Randys colorful and highly textured paintings reveal countless layers of paint and an interest in the archaeology of the process of painting. His furniture bridges the gap between art and design by combining painting and furniture in one composition.
Shull co-founded Pink Dog Creative, a former textile warehouse that is now a vital mixed-use artists studio complex in Asheville, NC.
He maintains a large warehouse studio in Asheville, NC and a mid century modern live/work space in Merida, Mexico. Shull and his partner, Hedy Fischer, are collectors of contemporary art, evident in the exhibition Limited Visibility, featuring works from their collection, exhibited at the CAM Raleigh in 2014-2015. Shull serves on the collections committee at The North Carolina Museum of Art.
