Editors' Review

Download.com Staff Feb 27, 2009
Though it offers fewer features and controls than other photo tools, PhotoPerfect DigiCam still quickly handles basic editing tasks. There is no installation process; you unzip the main file and click the icon, and the software starts up. The interface is simple and self-explanatory, though we were miffed to discover the main window can't be resized.

PhotoPerfect DigiCam doesn't have a comprehensive suite of editing features, but you'll find the necessities. You can resize images for sending via e-mail, publishing on the Web, or printing. The program also lets you add a variety of special effects, alter color and gray scale, and crop images, and it automatically renames files. However, it really doesn't give you as precise a degree of editing control as it should. For example, the program decides where to crop automatically, rather than letting you select a particular space to cut.

Beginners who want a quick and dirty way to spruce up their pics can benefit from this program, but demanding users will crave something more powerful.

Developer's Description

Binuscan PhotoPerfect DigiCam allows you to optimize images for printing, exporting to the Internet, and e-mailing in batch mode, as well as for resizing, rotating, cropping, and renaming files automatically. You only need to select your images, even if they're in different locations, select your output size and geometric transformations (crop, rotation with preview window), select your output folder, then launch the processing--for one image or a whole batch. Processed images are saved automatically, and originals remain untouched for archiving. The AI option provides more advanced features, such as automatic color correction, black-and-white conversion, and more than 50 special effects.
