As a virtual coloring book, this program offers 20 BMP images with predefined coloring areas, but this very basic program offers no advanced features to keep kids entertained. The simple interface includes a color selection tool with 15 color choices. Tykes can paint items such as berries, butterflies, and basketballs, but since the BMPs are only labeled with numbers, choosing them can be a trial-and-error process. However, Painter - Kids Colouring Book 1 does not offer different brush tools or other more advanced drawing implements. Users can print the completed image but this demo only saves one file at a time. On the plus side, the program can open any BMP file, which gives parents the option to create customized coloring pages. Preschool children may find the easy-to-use program fun, but older kids will need something more versatile.
