PLYT is a numeracy game that was initially developed just for the family to play at home with the children, but such was their improvement, the children's school soon asked to see it. The feedback was amazing and after further tests, the couple felt compelled to launch despite having no experience in the game industry. The PLYT Py app is a single player app built around some of the concepts as the board game and an easy and quick way to get people Plyting. The aim going forward is to provide games that are educational and great for families.
The aim of the game is to stop the Py from being eaten and stay in the gold band. As the seconds tick away more and more of the Py is eaten and your score increases, which is bad. Multiply the dice correctly and challenge yourself with even more dice to win your Py back and lower your score.
Each game includes 12 throws of the dice with a maximum of 30 seconds per throw. The game is an individual challenging for all ages (from 4 upwards) and abilities and ideal for people wanting a quick 10 minute brain workout. The level of challenge is up to you. Choose your standard (a standard is effectively a level equating to the number of dice you would throw) and throw at that standard against the clock or try to earn a bonus by throwing more than standard. The game works for the youngsters just starting out with numbers and trying to learn their tables, who can fix a dice (e.g. play the game on 2 times tables) to the Einsteins who could go for anything up to 12 dice (although we've never seen it done before). Achieve the gold and you are a master at that standard. Then move onto the next and the higher you go the greater the challenge and the buzz of getting it right.
Once you achieve gold at a particular standard you receive a "wear your stripes" code which we are looking to use to provide rewards to our players (e.g. receive a discount off the board game and the higher the standard the bigger the discount) - and are hoping that we can encourage companies to follow us by offering their rewards to our players. We believe great incentives will really encourage players to keep challenging themselves to improve numeracy - which is our aim. You can track your progress on your leaderboard and the more you challenge yourself the more you get out of the game. Players who work their way through the standards really see a massive improvement in their numeracy and mental sharpness.
