Editors' Review

by   / February 27, 2009

This application promises to scan and fix invalid Registry entries, though it lacks any user guidance. PC Windex has a clear-cut interface that somewhat compensates for the lack of a Help file. Only four options are offered: scan, fix, restore, and exit. The scan locates errors and presents them in a simple tree view with check boxes to select those you wish to repair. Note, however, the program also locates all programs set to run at system start-up. Simply deselect those programs you wish to continue launching when your computer boots up. Although you can use the Restore option to reset Registry changes, the program lacks a way to create a backup before scan. Also missing are other optimizing tools found in similar applications such as Internet and Windows trace removers. However, the scan and repair did increase computer speed in our tests, and this program is easy enough for anyone to use.
