From michael wunderli:
NameIt is a biology learning app. It focuses on learning about amazing living species around the world. Get access to high quality photos and learn to recognize species in the wild. Enjoy different topics like Penguins, Snakes, medicinal Plants and much moreAdvanced users are welcome to create their own list of species and share them with the community or upload their own photos. Find instructions to do this on my website nameitapp.orgThe species description text and images come from different sources like Wikipedia, Flicker and some major universities that publish their data under creative common licence. The learning algorithm is based on the 5 boxes Leitner system. After the download all items are in the first box. Using the the green button moves them to the next box. Use the green button when you successfully recognize one item. If you hit the red button the item goes back into the previous box. Items come up randomly and the probability for an item to be shown declines with the higher boxes. For every species 3 images and one description text are downloaded. If you are an expert and find somer errors or bad images you are very welcome to register at eol.org and help improve the quality of the data by taking part in the review process. You can add your own pictures by uploading them to Flickr and share them with the encyclopedia of life, eol.org. After a review process the pictures will be available in the App.
