N.O.V.A. Legacy is a visual remake of the classic first-person-shooter Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance that brings improved graphics and an updated weapons system to the premier sci-fi action game.
Solid FPS: To get going, N.O.V.A. Legacy assigns you to a campaign with a series of missions fighting off an alien invasion to save a space colony. As you advance through missions, you can upgrade and customize your weapons and armor to prepare for the next level. Missions are also short enough that you can play without a big time commitment.
Manageable two-hand controls: Navigation requires two hands -- or thumbs -- which is usually easy to manage but, at times, can feel a bit awkward as you move, aim, and equip weapons on a small screen.
Great graphics: Characters and settings appear realistically, and motion is fluid as you move through ship corridors and over ship hulls.
Multiplayer: After you master the controls, you can join online battlefields to fight against other players or join a team and battle on a 4v4 multiplayer map.
Challenging to not accept some permission requests: The app may request permission to access settings, such as your location, but to close the request box, you need to accept then step through a series of dialog boxes denying the request.
A bit cramped on a small screen: The game feels a bit small on a phone screen, and navigation, at times, feels awkward.
N.O.V.A. Legacy brings single and multiplayer FPS action to your phone. Two-handed controls are surprisingly easy to use but moving around in tight spaces can, at times, be a challenge.
