Moo0 ColorPicker is a small and incredibly simple program, but oh, how we wish we'd known about it sooner! How we wish we could get back the hours we have spent trying to match the colors in custom Web site headers to colors in site templates, or trying to match a font color to some other element. Moo0 ColorPicker can easily identify the color of anything on your screen--any element in any application. It doesn't offer an impressive interface or a ton of features, but for what it is, it's fantastic.
The program isn't much to look at, just a small rectangle with a couple of buttons and sliders for hue, saturation, and lightness. To use ColorPicker, users just hold down the Alt key while clicking on the color in question. The selected color is displayed in a rectangle, along with its hexadecimal color code. The program includes sample text within the color rectangle and users can change the text color independently of the background, which makes it easy to evaluate how text and background colors look together. We liked that the program can be tacked or untacked to the screen, letting users keep it exactly where they want it. There's no Help file, which is always a drawback to some extent, but the program really doesn't need that much explanation. Overall, Moo0 ColorPicker isn't fancy or sophisticated, but it's extremely useful. We plan to keep it around.
Moo0 ColorPicker comes as a ZIP file. It installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users.
