• Excellent except for some serious bugs

  Pros

  Lots of featurs. Fast response. Moveable topic boxes other more expensive programs do not have. Auto alignment. Can extend connector lines. Icons insert nicely and display. Well designed interface. Cheap compared to other full featured programs.

  Cons

  Not integrated with MS Project. Does not have auto selection of various display formats. Has some serious bugs: Refused to save file for unknown reaason. Refused to open a .jpg for unknown reasons.

  Summary

  I downloaded a half dozen mind mapping programs. Top of the line ones are reliable and packed with features that I would not use. MindVisualizer has almost all the features anyone would need in a stand alone application. The price is low compared to other programs. I would be willing to pay more, except I experienced some serious bugs that would not allow me to save my work and gave no error explanation. The other more stable programs handled what I was attempting to do without the errors. This program is a winner once they get the bugs nailed down. Stability id critical for this kind of application as once the work is lost you may not be able to remember all your great ideas. I really like the easy to use interface that is not stuffed with a lot of features you do not need. I couldn't get the text note box to dock once undocked and saw nothing to ecplain how to dock it. I didn't like the way the program included the numbered points in a Word doc I added as actual new topic numbers upon exporting all the map contents as a Word doc. I had to remove all the numbers in my imported Word docs to have the auto-number feature not treat them as topics that did not exist. I want to buy this product but I am a little shaky on whether the stability will be up to snuff. I really wish these guys all the best. They are definetly on the right track.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Sep 4, 2008<p/>Update: I fixed the bug for jpg file not opening by setting a different program as the default opening program. The other bug was when I attached and opened a large mpg file. I deleted that file and attached a smaller one. With the larger file the program wouldn't let me save my work. Now with the smaller one I can save it ok. I am now really enjoying this software. I like the way these guys think. One other thing I do not like is that the export to a web page does not seem to create an interactive web site, just a static html file. Despit that I have decided to buy. It is a great tool for writers. The program needs an auto-save feature just in case a nasty bug creeps forth. With a few more features and stabilitythis will be a five star program.

• Let's be honest - overpriced

  Pros

  A familiar windows UI, though I found navigation difficult later on.

  Cons

  Innoductive software has over-developed this tool, when I have a concept or thought I need to speedily jot down, I don't want to wait 10 seconds for the application to load, then mess around with creating a new document.

  Summary

  You have swamped the main function of the application (to map your thoughts) with too many features, and subsequently rendered the intended function impractical, and, although hate to say it - unusable. For that heft price-tag, this application doesn't meet my expectations. Good idea, badly implemented.

• Easy to use and quick to start

  Pros

  It's very intuitive and dose what I want easily and quickly, there are two features I like the most: 1)I can move the subtopics to any blank area. 2) the startup takes no time.

  Cons

  Maybe because it's still at its early stage, it doesn't support exporting to PDF.
