As its moniker suggests, this Outlook utility claims to remove duplicate e-mail messages from your in-box, but it fails to make the grade. To check for duplicate e-mail, Microsoft Outlook Duplicate Remover instructs you to create a temp folder in your in-box and then move or copy your e-mails into the folder. The program displays a Check and Delete button in a separate window, and you should click the button once the files are in the temp folder. The interface is extremely simple, with just the instructions for use and the button. Here's where the problems began. After clicking the button, the program quickly notified us it deleted messages, but the numbers it displayed were more than the number of messages we placed into the temp folder during our testing. The program advises you to continue clicking the button until the number of deleted mails reaches zero. Alas, after numerous clicks, the numbers didn't change and no duplicate messages were deleted. Adding to your woes, Microsoft Outlook Duplicate Remover doesn't provide tools for modifying its configurations. Since its claims were unsubstantiated in our assessment, we can't recommend this faulty freeware that disappoints from start to finish.
