• Perfect single purpose tool

  Does exactly the one thing it needs to do perfectly. My project involved trying to merge 4 dozen or so tracks, in order, from each folder so each folder constituted one track, with each folder representing about an hours worth of material. I expected to be able to do this easily in Audacity and was very, very wrong; it would've taken a half hour each in Audacity. With this tool, I only had to Select All in each folder and drag & drop them. They landed in the same order and took less than 20 seconds to finish each. Only 20 seconds. I was expecting flaws at such speed and found none; it worked perfectly on my phone. Once the files are dragged & dropped into the tool, you just Select All again and choose Merge from the file options. You can even enter metadata to boot. Super easy, super fast and laser focused to do one simple thing really well: merge tracks into one.

  Cant trust the file it made as I discovered so much malware it downloaded WITHOUT ASKING ME. It even changed the homepage on my browser. I cant believe CNET allowed this program. Guess I cant trust CNET after all.

  The less than 1 meg download onto my Vista box is a zip file containing 2 files: One for iTunes, and one for the featured Merge MP3 program. I used only the latter. After downloading, I ran it from the zip file (i.e., no installation required), and a simple Explorer-style window appeared. I selected 15 MP3 files from my desired folder, then selected all of them using ctrl-A in the program's window, then merged them to that same folder. Although I could have manually sorted the files by using the up/down arrows, which the program provides, the given order was fine. The entire process from my manual entry to its execution to exporting the list (an optional step) took less than one minute! I barely had a chance to start my stop watch! When I played the resulting file (which was only slightly larger than the combined 15 files in my folder), I was surprised at how seamless it was, with no discernible breaks (to be fair, I randomly selected spots in my computer's MP3 player program, so, although it's possible that something, somewhere within the merged file is amiss, I seriously doubt it). Per the other comments, I used the "direct download" to avoid the additional, optional, software that Cnet provides by clicking the "Download" box. It is unfair to refer to those programs as "malware", since they are benign and optional, and have nothing to do with Merge MP3. I heartily recommend this software.

  Installed this to find out it wouldn't do what I wanted, then spent 45 minutes getting the unrequested software changes out of my system.

• Full of Malware

  It installs all kinds of malware. Backup Software that constently displays a nag to backup, Replaces your homepage, Replaces your search engine, Loads software for ASPCA. I declined ALL software offers but it still downloaded everything. If you delete ethese "options" the program disappears.

After I removed all of the malware and restored the computer to last good restoree point, I downloaded the product again using the Direct Download Link the program installed without any of the malware. The product works as advertised and deserves a least a 4 star rating.

  I merged 12 mp3 audiobook files @ 232mb and the program took 5 seconds. The output file was a little smaller than the sum of the source :) It's one file for the actual program and another file to make iTunes audiobooks. MP3Merge did access the internet looking for an updated version. My firewall blocked it, but you can disable that under preferences. Drag n drop with a very clean looking interface.

  IT DOESN'T WORK! I just wanted to merge two MP3 files...one that is 24KB and one that is 93KB. I get a file that's 115KB, but only has the sound of the first MP3 file. Pathetic.
