Editors' Review

by   / February 27, 2009

Magic Button is a simple application aimed at making the Pocket PC more user-friendly. It fills the PDA's taskbar with icons of programs that have been launched, in theory making it simpler to switch back and forth between the word processor, the file manager, and the desktop with a stylus tap and button push. Hardware buttons can be mapped onto the program, allowing users to trigger their function with a tap of the pen. The software installs automatically, as long as ActiveSync is working, and supports the latest Windows Mobile OS. It comes with an optional trial version of the currency and unit converter, MxConverter. With a simple job to do, Magic Button doesn't overwhelm users with features, but with its price tag of zero we would happily recommend it to Pocket PC users hoping to streamline their PDA experience.
