LAUNCHcastaway is a streamable and remote-controllable desktop Java audio player that allows you to listen to your existing music library in a radio-like format from virtually anywhere. Stream to as many remote computers running LAUNCHcastaway Remote Player as your network bandwidth will allow. Control LAUNCHcastaway over a local network or the Internet using LAUNCHcastaway Remote Control. Create stations and rate songs, albums, and artists to control how frequently they play, or listen to your music on-demand and create playlists for controlled playback. Supports popular audio formats such as MP3, OGG, WAVE, AIFF, and AU. LAUNCHcastaway includes features such as a Sleep Timer and Automatic Volume Leveling (help keeps volume consistent from song to song), as well as Automatic Updates to make sure you have the latest version without having to manually install/uninstall. The Play Mix feature allows you to control how much of your rated vs unrated music you want to hear. Initial setup is quick and easy--a startup wizard guides you through selecting music from your library. LAUNCHcastaway won't modify your existing music library folders or files in any way--it will simply "read" them and play them as they are. LAUNCHcastaway is a "good citizen" application in that it is designed to keep all of the files it creates confined to its installation folder, so there's no need for an uninstaller--just simply delete the application's main folder to uninstall it. Since LAUNCHcastaway is written in Java, it was designed to work on virtually any platform that can run standard Java applications, such as Windows, Linux/UNIX, and Mac. This includes the Remote Player and Remote Control applications, as well, so you can mix and match operating systems among all three applications.
