The App GreenCIL has been developed by CMPDI to showcase the plantation carried out by subsidiaries of Coal India Limited( A Maharatna Company) for the purpose of biological reclamation on mined out areas, avenue plantation and block plantation covering all the opencast and underground mines of Coal India Limited. This App encompasses project-wise plantation carried out vis--vis the forest land diverted. On a macro-scale this project specific information is provided for all the areas of Coal India Limited subsidiaries. The location of the plantation carried out in the project is linked with the satellite data on the GoogleEarth. Against many of the project, there is provision of placemark, which on getting clicked, navigates the user to the plantation site. The Image Gallery of the App contain selective geo-tagged field photographs. The Image Gallery on getting clicked navigates the user to the place from where the photograph of the plantation site has been captured. This also allows the user to view the plantation site through GoogleEarth.The App has been developed based on the information provided by concerned subsidiary on the forest land diverted, sapling planted and photographs of the plantation sites. The remote sensing maps have been provided based on the satellite imagery processed by CMPDI. It showcases the efforts undertaken by Coal India Limited in converting the degraded land into good forests. As per the information provided by subsidiaries, the total plantation carried out by Coal India Limited till March, 2016 is 92. 45 million i.e. on an average, Coal India Limited is planting 4000 saplings in a day.
