If patience is not one of your strongest traits, then perhaps a turn-based strategy game is not for you. Otherwise, sit back, and get ready to be consumed for hours by the chesslike pace of this Great Little War Game.
In GLWG, you are the bird's-eye-view commander of a comical yet brutal military force. You get one turn to move your units and wage attacks, then it's your opponent's turn to do the same. The strategy comes in as you attempt to attack your enemy, while still maintaining a safe-enough distance that you avoid being attacked yourself. As you might imagine, this can be very difficult and requires a lot of thinking.
There are three different gaming modes in GLWG: Campaign, Pass & Play (two players on the same device), and Skirmish (one-off missions). Campaign is the best place to start, as it gives you a quick primer on the different units and functions. Here you'll get a taste of everything from snipers to engineers to artillery units. And the fight doesn't just take place on solid ground, as there are also air and sea units to choose from. And, of course, you also must protect your barracks, oil rigs, and other military buildings.
While the variety of units, missions, and scenarios is certainly impressive, I do wish the game offered unit upgrades. It would add a whole new dimension to the gameplay if you could add armor to ground units or upgrade the weapons of your vehicles.
Overall, Great Little War Game is one of the best turn-based strategy games I've seen. It's incredibly addictive and visually well-designed. Plus, it has challenging missions and just enough humor to keep it light. I highly recommend this download.
GLWG is the hit 3D turn-based strategy game that everyone's talking about. With a unique comical style and plenty of laughs and excitement, you'll keep coming back again and again for "just one more go."
Take command of your army and battle the foe on land, sea and air but be sure to make wise decisions as you go. You want to deploy your soldiers to take full advantage of the higher terrain, natural choke points, ambush spots and defensive walls. Get it right and the bad guys will lose to your superior strategy skills.
