Google Sheets makes creating and editing spreadsheets on the go quite easy, integrating with Google Drive and allowing you to share files and even work together with others on the same spreadsheet in real-time. There are some issues with viewing larger spreadsheets that are due to the size of the screen, and the process isn't as fast as when using the larger screen of your computer.
Pleasant and clean UI: Like most Google apps, Google Sheets features an appealing and intuitive interface that's straight to the point -- a small menu bar sits at the top of the screen, the rest of which is devoted to the content. We especially like the View as Grid / View as List menu button, which enables you to switch between previews of spreadsheets and a sorted list of files.
Easy spreadsheet creation and editing: The touch controls for navigating your way through a spreadsheet and editing or creating cells and customizing the formatting are responsive, as is the zooming in or out or the selection of multiple cells. While you cannot edit spreadsheets as quickly as on a computer, you can perform basic edits or create simple spreadsheets with ease.
Collaborative features: You can easily invite others to collaborate on a spreadsheet by simply entering their name (the app searches in your contacts list). You can also determine who gets what permissions, allowing some to only view and comment on your spreadsheet, while others may also edit them.
Sometimes slow: On the whole this app has a good performance, but we experienced lag when trying to open larger spreadsheets. Even small documents take at least a few seconds to open.
Should be part of Google Drive: Google's policy of handling spreadsheets and other documents through separate apps rather than via Google Drive means you have to install more apps and keep switching between them.
Google Sheets does what it promises, offering a straightforward environment for managing and editing spreadsheets stored on your device or in Google Drive. Because of its collaborative features, this app can be extremely useful for work-related projects, since you and your co-workers can make edits on the go, even when you're not at the office.
