The shareware version of this utility imposes several limitations, so we couldn't test the majority of its features (including password protection and expiration). Fast Ebook Compiler is designed to convert HTML files into a stand-alone executable e-book. It does a middling job. The program's wizardlike interface is very clear, yet not powerful enough to easily manage complex trees of HTML documents. As for its main function, Fast Ebook Compiler converts HTML into e-books at a decent speed, but we weren t impressed with the results. When we tried to convert a sophisticated, image-rich HTML manual, the program corrupted the internal structure of the documents so we couldn t navigate the e-book using hyperlinks. Fast Ebook Compiler may be all right for simple collections of HTML documents, but we wouldn't recommend it to anyone who wants to convert a large Web site.
