The annual Performance and Accountability Report (PAR) for the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) informs Congress and the American people about what our agency has collectively achieved for the Fiscal Year 2014. The report uses plain language along with graphs, photos, trend data, and hyperlinks to explain its program and financial performance results. Readers may use the PAR to assess AOCs accountability over the federal funds it receives and the degree to which AOC achieved its strategic goals. The PAR includes an overview of AOCs history, mission, organizational structure, strategic framework, and performance and financial information. A series of In Focus sidebars interspersed throughout spotlight various project and program accomplishments such as the launch of the U.S. Capitol Dome Restoration Project. The AOC is responsible to the United States Congress, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress and the Botanic Garden for the maintenance, operation, development and preservation of over 17.4 million square feet of buildings and more than 587 acres of grounds. The AOC also provides professional expertise on the preservation of architectural and artistic elements entrusted to its care and provides recommendations concerning the design, construction and maintenance of the Capitol Hill facilities and grounds. The AOC also supports the needs of nearly 30,000 occupants and millions of tourists who visit annually and ensures the buildings and grounds meet modern standards for sustainability and accessibility.
