FTL: Faster Than Light places you in control of a spaceship and charges you with exploring the galaxy to see what you can find. And along the way, you're sure to encounter both friend and foe, so you need to be prepared to make some hard choices to ensure the survival of your ship and crew.
Thorough tutorial: There's a lot going on in this game, and there are many details to keep track of. The tutorial gives you a good, step-by-step overview of where to find different information about your ship and how to access all of its systems. It does take a bit of time to get through, but it's a worthwhile investment in the long run.
Information at your fingertips: All of the information and controls that you need to manage your ship and its resources properly are conveniently arrayed around the interface. You can access everything with just a tap or swipe, so you don't have to continually open dashboards or information panels and then return to your main screen.
Learning curve: Because the game is so intricate, it does take a while to learn. This doesn't have to be a major drawback, but it's definitely something you should be prepared for going in to avoid frustration. Even if you have a lot of experience with this kind of game, don't expect to be an expert right away.
FTL: Faster Than Light is a well-made and well-executed game. It does come with a substantial $9.99 price tag, but the amount of time you'll be able to spend playing this game and the complexity of the gameplay make it a worthwhile investment.
