This free diagnostic tool scans your PCs drives and folders to give you a detailed report of the space being used. We were very impressed by its performance.
DiskSurvey has a very basic interface that is easy to navigate. A Help feature is included to guide you along the way. Simply select your drive from the drop-down menu, and select your start path, if it applies. You can also search and select individual files. The options menu lets you choose a pie chart or bar graph to display the data, and what unit of measurement you want to display the data, and you can opt to search sub-folders. Click a button to begin the scan, and that's it. We started our testing by give the program the large job of scanning our C drive. Considering the task at hand, the program quickly scanned and displayed an in-depth report of each folder on our C drive, along with a pie graph showing the big picture. The tree-menu style display lets you drill down within each folder to see each specific file. You can even export the report as a PDF, plain text, or Excel file.
This is a great tool for staying on top of your computers drives and folders. Even novice users will find the program easy to use. This free program is a keeper, but it uninstalls without leaving any traces.
DiskSurvey is an application for surveying a disk's space usage. This program will scan a node (a drive or directory) and display the cumulative size of all files and file count within that node and sub-nodes. The program will also display the contents of a chosen directory in a pie or bar graph so that the user can visualize how space is being utilized. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.
