Welcome to the content-rich and interactive Dickens GE Resource Pack developed in collaboration with The Dickens Legacy. Find out how Beckman Unicorns London West End production of GREAT EXPECTATIONS by Charles Dickens was adapted for the stage by Jo Clifford culminating in the West End's first international cinema broadcast live from the theatre on the Gala Night.Packed with a fascinating insight in to the production itself, including music, video and exclusive images from the production, the resources are also relevant for preparing students for Theatre Studies and Performing Arts courses at key stages 4 and 5, and for writing schemes as part of English Literature AS/A Level. The combination of movement, music and acting in the production makes it ideal assignment material for all levels of BTEC Performing Arts courses. The element of the resource pack examining Beckman Unicorns role as a commercial production company supports mandatory BTEC units exploring the Performing Arts Industry. In addition there are practical ideas for using Drama as a tool to raise standards in English at Key Stage 3. Also included are drama exercises that explore the original novel and are designed to develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. The live broadcast of the West End Gala Night is available on DVD and VOD with extras including interviews with Graham McLaren, Jo Clifford, Lucinda Dickens Hawksley and Dickens aficionado, Simon Callow. To further aid access the DVD is subtitled in German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish and is available via the official site.
