This toolbar program differs from many of its competitors by running on the bottom taskbar near the Start button, not at the top of your Web browser. That said, Dave's Quick Search Deskbar is very easy to use and won't take up much of your PC's resources. You simply double-click the word Search, and the toolbar gives you a field in which to enter text. You then type a term, select a site via the arrow icon, and the app automatically launches your browser and performs your search. Unlike many other toolbar add-ons for Web browsers, this one lets you access and search a great number of sites, including those specializing in travel, finance, construction, and entertainment, as well as Amazon and eBay. The only problem we found with it is that all the preferences are scripted in text files, making it challenging for the average user to customize. Dave's Quick Search Deskbar is a very handy and compact browsing companion that will help make your searches more effective.
