Blues is the name given to both musical forms and musical genres that were created primarily in the African-American Society in the Deep South United States at the end of the 19th century from spiritual songs, work songs, field hollers, shouts, and simple narratives rhythmic ballads. The best known are Delta, Piedmont, and Chicago blues style. World War II marked the transition from acoustics to electric blues and the progressive opening of blues to a wider audience. In the 1960s and 1970s, a hybrid was formed called the blues rock revolution.
