I was only downloading one torrent but the instability of this software has made me want to use something else. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to turn off "uploading". It appears to be stuck on open permanently.

It's easy to use, smart, and looks cool. I've created torrents, downloaded files, and managed everything. I've used other clients, and they just don't match up. I highly recommend it.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Weighing up between the amount of times this program crashes (not many, and its usually when I am hammering it by opening too many torrents at the one time, things like that), and the ability to actually have the rest of my network available to use for other things, I think BoW is a great Torrent app. If you want bells and whistles, go with something like Azureus, but if you are happy to use a straight forward program, then BoW is for you.

The biggest difference I have noticed in comparison to Transmission is that BoW does not slow my whole net connection down. The internet is fine to use on my other mac whilst BoW is running. I would recommend this app over Tomato and Transmission.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />very well done, with two caveats: - lacking the ability to auto-stop a running torrent. - even more irritating is the query that pops up when stopping the program asking "are you sure you want to quit Bits on Wheels?"... if I went through the process of scrolling all the way to the bottom of the application menu list, it's unlikely i did so by mistake, i'm not completeley retarded.

  ...usability<br />This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This is a very neat bit torrent client... the 3d visual representation of the swarm and the packets flying around is one of the neatest network tools I've ever seen! It also has some very nice features not to be found on the standard clients. With all that being said though, it's sort of a one-trick pony, and the interface quirkiness makes it extremely diffiicult to use all the time if you're an active torrent user. Pluses: - awesome visualization - ability to set which port it runs on - ALL TORRENT CLIENTS SHOULD HAVE THIS!!!!! - very rich set of options (aforementioned port, maximum # of uploads, max rate per upload, max overall rate) Minuses: - prompts you for where to say the torrent for each and every torrent you click on (no option for folder to save to) - apple-comma doesn't bring up options, you have to find them in the menus - managing torrents is very confusing, there is a delete button but after finding that the other buttons don't do what I'd expect them to do, I'm afraid to push it - no documentation, and interface isn't straightforward enough to get away with this This is a very cool client, and you really ought to run it a few times to see the packets flying around, but I highly recommend transmission as the easiest-to-use, fastest, and best overall torrent client for the Mac.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I've been using BoW heavily for a while now, probably a year or so, on at least five PowerBooks (Pismo G32, Ti and Al PowerBooks). Not once have I seen any sort of trouble with my hard drives, and I use both the boot drive and an external drive for downloads. I suspect the previous poster had some undiscovered hard disk troubles (use DiskWarrior) and BoW was just the app that stumbled across the issue.<p> Now, reviewing BoW: I love it! I've run with - and intermittently return to - the official BT client, Transmission, BoW, and Azureus. Somehow I always return to BoW, mostly for the swarm graphics. (I don't see any major differences between download speed or resource usage.)<p> While there are several dozen minor user interface issues I'd like to have tweaked, I heartily recommend BoW as the client to use.
