All things considered, this CD ripper fails to make a compelling case for itself, although it is at least functional. Audio Extractor's interface is clearly half-baked, as nearly all of the wording on the main window hasn't been translated from German. To make matters worse, the application can't be minimized to the system tray, which may frustrate multitaskers. On the plus side, the app had no problem grabbing track information from the Web, though the demo only can rip files in the MP3 format and won't let you configure the bit rate or audio quality. In our tests, Audio Extractor did its job, though it seemed very poky when compared to other similar utilities we've tested. In the final analysis, we'd guess most users should examine other options before settling for this program.
