The Ask Me Anything app brings Reddit's popular Q&A series to iOS. Follow the Q&A sessions of average Joes or internationally renowned personalities, like Madonna or President Obama, and pose your own queries in active AMAs. The app looks modern and uncluttered compared to the dated, text-heavy Reddit website, but we had trouble getting certain features to work. The app is probably appealing only for heavy Reddit users.
No registration required: If you're cautious about giving up your email address, you can use the Ask Me Anything app as a guest, but you'll only be able to observe AMAs past and present. To ask a question or vote a question up, you have to create a log-in.
Modern interface: Although Reddit's website refuses to drop its dated, visually unappealing design, developers must have anticipated that that look won't play on the small screen. A lot of the overbearing text found on the site has been replaced in the app with modern, colorful buttons and photos.
Easy to navigate: Buttons are clear, and the user flow is intuitive. Search popular AMAs by topic or by what's hot, recent, or an all-time favorite. Just scroll up and down and swipe from side to side to go from one AMA to another.
Easy access: Getting quick access to celebrity AMAs is a real boon for users who can't be tied to their desks 24 hours a day. Also, alerts ensure that you won't miss a much-anticipated AMA.
Questions don't get through: Only three out of six of our questions went through during testing. It's unclear whether that was because there's a limit to prevent spamming or because the questions violated Reddit's guidelines (which we carefully read ahead of time).
Age restriction: Reddit's content -- which may include crude language and mild nudity and sexual content -- isn't for all ages. For this reason, it's available only to those who are 17 years old and up. You can also hide adult content.
Profile setup: We were never able to figure out how to set up a profile on the app.
If you're a major fan of Reddit's Ask Me Anything and never want to miss another AMA, especially one of the high-profile ones, then this app is for you. If you're just a casual user, then you may want to save your precious phone space for another app.
