Editors' Review

Download.com Staff Feb 27, 2009
This screensaver celebrates the works of Austrian artist Gustav Klimt, but unless you register it, you won't be able to enjoy the paintings very long. Art of Gustav Klimt Screensaver displays about 20 of the artist's best-known paintings, including his most famost, The Kiss. In all cases, the photographic reproductions of the art look professionally done, and the tidy background textures appear equally polished. However, we thought the cheesy-sounding MIDI music was at odds with the program's design, so we disabled it almost immediately. Art of Gustav Klimt Screensaver has enough features to go around, letting you determine where the images appear on the screen, select from a list of transition effects, and set the delay between images. Our major complaint with this application is its extremely short two-day trial period, which may not give many users enough time to decide whether it's worth purchasing. Still, die-hard Klimt disciples and modern-art fans in general will probably want to at least try this screensaver.
