Art App is exactly as it sounds -- a drawing, painting, and sharing app for your artistic side, albeit with more than a few limitations. This app suffers from a diverse range of issues, including buttons that are very small and, at times, hard to hit, limited editing tools, and a sharing interface that omits some of the most popular options on the iOS platform. While adults might not be drawn in here, Art App might appeal to a younger audience.
Art App loads directly to the drawing interface on your iPhone, allowing you to immediately start drawing with the various tools onscreen. These include numerous color options, sliders for both brush size and opacity, and deleting tools. The app stops here, though, not offering custom fillers, paint buckets, selection tools, or other options that are typically found in comparable free art apps. This is the "Paint" of iOS painting apps and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, it does signal a limited range of features for those who want robust art creation apps. Probably the biggest issue we had with Art App, however, is the size of the buttons. This app tries to minimize screen space used by tools, so the buttons are extremely small, which can be frustrating when you try to tap the right one.
That said, a child will have a blast drawing on an iPhone or iPod Touch device with Art App, and while sharing is limited to photo library, e-mail, and Twitter, those options allow you to get those drawings to the world with just a few quick taps.
