As the enhanced version of the award-winning AVL malware scanner for Android, Antiy AVL Pro Antivirus & Security introduces a potent but unstable App Scanner and a comprehensive App Analyzer that offers a deeper level of scanning than mainstream security apps, but lacks essential features like automatic startup and Web protection. In spite of its title, this beta-stage app is free.
State-of-the-art app scanner: Antiy AVL Pro Antivirus & Security scans app packages on multiple levels, providing all-inclusive APK/DEX binary/Opcode/Heuristic analysis for any app on your device, as well as the ability to uninstall apps and export their package installers or share them via email. It also shows data about an app's activity info, certificates, and other valuable security information.
Highly customizable: Several scanning options can be toggled on or off via Settings, from malware-scanning for APK filenames to AdWare detection, meaning that you can tailor the scanning process to your needs and find the right balance between speed and thoroughness.
Excellent support: The developers are highly active in the Google Play store and answer most user comments, so solving technical issues or giving feedback is fast and easy.
App Scanner crashes: The App Scanner crashes during scans, making it all but useless at present. You cannot really discover whether you have malware on your device with this release unless you manually analyze every app -- a tedious process.
Looks and feels like a beta app: Though appealing, the interface feels slow and awkward. The constant app scanning crashes and the sluggish performance, which at times slows down the system, further make this app seem unpolished, unoptimized, and unfinished.
Antiy AVL Pro Antivirus & Security looks like a highly promising security app for power users. In its current form, however, the app behaves like a beta release, crashing and having serious performance issues. We recommend that you wait for the full release before downloading it; though if you're a security expert you may want to give it a go even now.
