Version: Angelus the Necromancer 1.0
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. Hey Folk,
This game is good fun, especially if you enjoyed the previous Arcane Journey release, Adventure Solitaire. Now as opposed to flipping through cards abstractly, you're actually sneaking about in a dungeon grabbing items, killing some baddies, and running away from much tougher ones. Do you use that healing potion now or just hope you can kill the giant snake in one more blow? While the game is already very playable, knowing the folk behind it and how he's open to good user feedback, I'm sure there will be many more creatures, items, and dungeon features added as the game evolves over time. Also worth noting the game is pretty tough so be prepared to die a lot before you start logging some wins against the Evil Necromancer on the 8th level.
Added "easy mode": all heroes get starting stat boosts, start with a shrine active (which means they can die once and keep playing), and never encounter double exceptional (++) monsters. Also, their score is x2, and you can't unlock the hidden heroes this way; you must win at normal mode to do that.
