We don't want to get caught up in a name, but this application doesn't so much enhance clipboard functionality as it expands the number of clipboards at your disposal. With Advanced Clipboard you can manage up to 15 different clipboards that will save your copied text and images from session to session. It has the look and feel of your standard Windows utility, so the simple, tabbed interface is easy to get used to.
Once you set up the hot key preferences to cut, paste, and call up the application, you follow the same basic steps as using the Windows clipboard. In addition to using hot keys for the last copied item, you can view a menu of clips with one click of the mouse wheel. This saves some window space over viewing the standard clipboard in a side pane, and it's only up when you need it. It saves formatting, and you can view text entries, but Advanced Clipboard doesn't allow you to preview copied images. You also can't create categories to organize your clips, and it doesn't have a built-in text editor.
We can't find fault with the features it does have, but wish that Advanced Clipboard offered the clip management options found in other clipboard utilities. If you just need more space and a basic way to save text and images, though, this simple application is worth a try.
