Daniel Hernandez (born in Bushwick, Brooklyn, United States, May 8, 1996; age 24), known by his stage name 6ix9ine (pronounced "six nine"), also known as 6ix9ine or Tekashi, is an American rapper.

Hernandez became famous on social media because of the Instagram post in July 2017 which became viral on Reddit and Twitter, [citation needed] where Hernandez's appearance was eccentric (rainbow hair, and some back numbered 69 tattoos on his body).

Shortly after, Hernandez announced his debut mixtape, Day69. The mixtape was released on February 23, 2018, and debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 album chart with 55,000 units equivalent to an album, of which 20,000 were pure sales. According to Jon Caramanica of The New York Times, the recording was the result of a "SoundCloud rap blast", and is well known for its willingness to deviate from the prevailing norms of hip-hop and sound.
