"Good program for transfer of songs from ipod to mac"

my iPod was dying and xport backed it up to my Air mac

I wish it could also backup playlists but for a free program it is more than I expected
Summary
My old ipod video is nearly at the end of its life and I didn't touch it for some many months now. Most of the songs on the iPod are long gone with my previous laptop's iTunes. I was wondering how to get my songs back to my mac and this program came to the rescue. Generally pleased with its performance.

Well - easy to download - thought I was onto a good thing but still waiting...

Ipod (nano) connected - messaage came up xPort is loading your database. More than 24 hrs later same message - what's going on? My mac is old - Tiger OSX - but is this a bit excessive?

For a free utility, this program absolutely cuts it. I had my new MacBook Air delivered yesterday and since my previous laptop was a PC, I had absolutely no idea of how to bring my iTunes media to my new Mac.
I read about xPort and downloaded the tool which helped me put all of my ipod songs (previously synced with the iTunes on my PC) to my empty iTunes library - all that for free! -

"It Imported"

I've used CopyTrans in the past for Windows XP and had great success. Now that I have converted to Mac, I needed help importing from the iPod to iTunes. CopyTrans was my first choice. Xports exported iTunes library from the iPod to the hard drive in no time but that was as far as I could get.
Cons
I consider myself computer literate, I know where the "any" key is. So my feelings was hurt when I could not import the library to iTunes. The files appeared to be just the titles and names of the playlist, not the actual music. The steps are very simple and easy to follow that I repeated them six times or more. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. I ended up importing the library through sharing the library. I really wanted to give a five star.
Summary
Although, it did not work completely for me, I highly recommend CopyTrans.

Works as stated. The support team at CopyTrans is the best. Very responsive and helpful.

CopyTrans doesn't work on Mac
but xPort does.Summary
Have used CopyTrans since 2007 with my PCs and Ipods. Has always worked great! A real lifesaver, once for a PC hard drive crash, once for a new PC. Just used Xport with a new Macbook Pro and with some help from the great support team at xPort I was able to do what I needed to do. Thanks to the team and specifically Krasimir!
