Austhink Software was created in mid-2004 with a single mission: to create the world's leading software for argument mapping, in both educational and professional versions. The team consists of 12 people: CEO; Business Manager; Software Architect; 4 programmers; 2 designers; Marketing and sales rep; 2 administrative assistants. In addition, Austhink has research collaborations with Melbourne and Monash Universities. Austhink CEO, Dr. Tim van Gelder, is a leading cognitive scientist in the area of acquisition of reasoning skills. He has numerous publications, regularly speaks at international gatherings, and has won an Australian national science prize for his work in this area. He gained his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh, taught at Indiana University and now holds an associate position as Principal Fellow (Associate Professor) at the University of Melbourne.
