    "Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!"

    April 30, 2004  |   By coshields

    Version: viJournal 1.1.4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I really love this Journal and it's iterface is much more attractive and easy-to-use than the others I've tried. The interface is simple, intuitive and has the feel of a traditional journal without all of the icons and links that make most journal program just look like a text editor. I do wish it were possible to navigate via a calendar and print journal entries by date range, but I truly appreciate the simple and straightforward approach. If you are truly looking for a subtle yet powerful solution that just lets you write the way you really want to write...this is the one!

    "Fresh and Elegant"

    April 15, 2004  |   By cocoaNut--2008

    Version: viJournal 1.1.3

    Summary

This is a fresh and elegant approach to journals. I would like to see the addition of a cover/locking feature based on inactivity such as NoteBook has. Otherwise really nice.

    "A decent journal app"

    March 18, 2004  |   By Robert_Cummings

    Version: viJournal 1.0b3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
If Droufield can get the obvious bugs out, I think viJournal will emerge as a fine app, and I would certainly consider buying it. A few observations: the aesthetic appeal of the app would be greatly enhanced by being able to place a jpeg image on the opening screen; then you would be presented with a photograph or "cover" upon opening instead of a blank field. I disagree with the earlier comment that the app is "trying to enter an already saturated notebook market." There are indeed some nice, robust notebooks available (I especially like hogbay and Alepin), but a journal/diary is not the same as a notebook and the journal niche is far from saturated; the only other decent diary app is MacJournal. MacJournal is excellent, but viJournal is cleaner with fewer superfluous bells and whistles. I especially like the way viJournal "does not" include the time of entry like MacJournal forces you to do. I am not interested in the time of day, just the date of my diary entries.
