Mybounds is a smartphone and cloud-based SaaS application that allows users to avoid unexpected and costly monthly phone bills (i.e. 'Bill Shock') by enabling them to stay within the bounds of their mobile plan and providing alerts when an over-charge limit is being approached. The myBounds smartphone app tracks usage information (voice, text and data) on the device in real-time, then compares it to the mobile plan hosted in our web-based application. Unlike other systems, myBounds solves the difficult problem of tracking family or group plans where voice, text or usage data is pooled and shared by multiple people and/or devices. While there are other smartphone apps that track data usage for a single device alone, myBounds is unique in that it tracks data, voice and text across multiple people and devices. As more carriers offer shared family plans, we believe many people will find myBounds very useful. Parents that manage mobile plans where data, voice and text limits are pooled and shared by the entire family have a very difficult time ensuring that their kids (and spouses) are using their phones responsibly. Because everyone shares a pool, no one is responsible or accountable for expensive over-charges (except the parents who have to pay the bills). Using myBounds, a parent can assign a usage budget (for data, voice, and text) to each member of the family and can: 1. Monitor the individual usage of each member as well as the total usage of the group, 2. Receive automatic alerts when usage limits are exceeded, 3. Receive automatic alerts when usage trends are too high (i.e. when a family member is using their device at a rate, that if continued, will lead to an over-charge), 4. Re-allocate budgets as necessary.
