"an old unstable unneeded crack :("

    February 20, 2009  |   By ianastas

    Pros

    absolutely none

    Cons

junk, cripples windows media player 11, overwrites system files, an unneeded crack

    Summary

This is noting but the old radium crack (illegal) of Fraunhofer iis professional codec
WMP11 comes with a newer legal version of Fraunhofers codec, no need for this junk this overwrites the legal and newe l3codecp.acm v3.4 with the old cracked 1.2 version if you need to access the properties of the already installed and licensed by MS codec make these changes to the registry:
    ;;begin reg file
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
    "msacm.l3codec"="l3codecp.acm"

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\drivers.desc]
"l3codecp.acm"="Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec (professional)"
    ;;end reg file
or check this site for more info:

    Updated on Jun 2, 2011

Well I redoownloaded the file to check if it was updated, it's not it still installs Radium's crack of Fraunhofers acm mp3 codec(l3codecp.acm version 1.2.0.63) this is an unstable old version and may crash WMP or any other application that uses the audio compression manager aka ACM (Like Virtual Dub),
I can't believe cnet is hosting cracks.
    There are better alternatives:
    1. Use Lame's acm codec.
    2. Windows Media Player 10/11/12 includes a licensed version of the codec it's hidden from the user but can be shown by adding a registry key see the previous post or this site:

I understand every word of what you said, and thanks for your post - because I would have crippled my WMP11 and also I've seen the Radium MP3 on people's computers; that so-called codec which actually tests POSITIVE as a VIRUS by several anti-virus applications is bugged or loaded with something malicious.
    Thanks for protecting us.
