"Completely Screwed Up"
Version: mlMac 0.7.2a
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Beyond the excruciatingly slow D/Ls from the product, this thing played havoc with OSX in about 20 different ways -- slowdown, 2 minutes between reactions in the program itself, losing input functions from both the mouse and keyboard routines, causing other programs to lock the entire computer for several minutes before releasing it again, and up to 10 minutes to contact the daemon on a broadband connection... I can't even enter a search before it crashes... average time to crash is about 7 minutes.
Wow, didn't anybody test this thing before submitting it?!? Holy crap!
Too bad I can't find the 0.7.1 version anywhere, because the new one is worthless.
Neutral because it's free, the features were good in the previous version and would be good otherwise... I've always thought the documentation was too light, especially on a few wordings in the file... But if the program doesn't work... -

"I agree..This program sux!!!!!!!!!!"
Version: mlMac 0.7.2
Summary
Try finding another mldonkey client. This one will get you no where. I suggest using Limewire or Poisioned. Sure you may get a lot of results from your searches, but I will take you a week to download a 5meg file.

"Nice Program, Serious Issues"
Version: mlMac 0.7.2a
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This program is a great idea. It searches multiple networks, and gives you the most results out of any Mac p2p program I have used. But...
Problem #1: My successful download rate has been about 2%. Most connections never go through. Fasttrack ("Kazaa") results work best, but are least in number.
Problem #2: The fact that the program stores temporary files (while downloading) in a hidden places scares me. It's also annoying because often when you want to preview a file it will open the wrong one. I want an "incomplete" folder like Limewire.
Problem #3: When the program crashes, and this happens quite often, it leaves some aspect of it open. My cpu would to my surprise heat up to upwards of 140 degrees, which would surprise me because I hardly had any apps open. Upon checking out the activity monitor (X 10.3) I would see mlMac was still hogging 70% of my 1 GHz CPU despite having "crashed." It would do this every time.
This program is a great concept but it still needs some serious work. I'm going to stick with Limewire for now. -
"G I A N T Memory Leak"
Version: mlMac 0.7.2a
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Once you figure out how to use this application, no thanks to the lack of decent documentation, it can do some useful work. The Donkey/Mule network can be pokey if not glacial. FastTrack is dirt slow to connect, but once it does it works great (too bad people have been poisoning the files there, however). Trouble starts when you become ambitious and try to download big files or lots of little ones. Then the beast appears in the form of a G I G A N T I C memory leak. I have watched mlMac, all on its own, eat up all my free RAM space (512 MB in no time!) then proceed to eat up all my disk space as well for virtual memory, hundreds of MB at a time. If you let it get far enough this FAT HOG of a program will bring your Mac to a STANDSTILL. All you will hear is disk thrashing and you will have NO CONTROL. If you can, force quit the beast, then restart, or at least log out then in, to clean out the space it ate. If you have let the beast go too far, a forced reboot and fsck are in order. User Beware! Looks cute, does nice work, has a vicious nasty hunger for memory space. Pray that eMule for Mac proves to be better, whenever they get around to finishing it. -

"nice try..."
Version: mlMac 0.7.2a

Lots of results but little downloads. A 7MB file took 3 days to download (DSL connection). Most downloads are stalled and the "preview" button doesn't work.
