magicApp Calling & Messaging lets you place calls and receive both calls and voicemail for free, all through a familiar set of controls.
Intuitive interface: When you're using magicApp Calling & Messaging, you might forget you're not actually using the regular phone app on your device. The app imports your contacts, so they're right where you expect them to be. And there's a log of all your recent calls, as well.
Clear calls: All of the calls we placed through magicApp Calling & Messaging were clean and clear. There was no detectable static or interference, and the connection was completed right away. The voicemail also worked well and was easy to access.
Different numbers: The number the app shows under your account for people to use to call you isn't the same as the number that shows up on their phone when you call them. You also don't get to pick your number, which might be a drawback to some people. Also, people calling you who don't have magicJack service could incur long-distance charges.
One account, one device: Once you log in to magicApp Calling & Messaging on your phone, you can't log in again with a different account on that device.
magicApp Calling & Messaging is not a perfect service. It would be nice if text messaging were supported, and there are a few other issues mentioned above. But overall, the app works well, the controls are clear, and the service is free, which makes all of the other issues much less of a concern. If you're looking for an alternative phone service, this is definitely worth a shot.
