CNET Editors' review
As promised, this Web browser is easier on your system resources than alternatives such as Internet Explorer, but it doesn't offer tabbed browsing or support some plug-ins from other companies. m9P's straightforward interface consists of the viewing window, a File menu, and a pared down toolbar that holds only basic navigational buttons.
It automatically adds your IE favorites on installation and there's an option to import your bookmarks from Netscape, but Firefox isn't supported. Pages are quick to load, and it handles Flash animation and Java just as well as IE or Firefox. It has the standard buttons to navigate backward, forward, refresh, and stop loading, and all worked fine. The File menu provides access to an Internet Options window that is nearly indistinguishable from IE's. It doesn't have a plug-in manager or other method of adding toolbars or add-ons, although there are multiple links to the publisher's other products and some of these paid products appear to work with the browser like plug-ins. It doesn't support tabs either, a feature that's become standard in most browsers today.
If you've used any type of browser before, you can use this one. You won't find some of the extras offered in the more popular Web browsers, but if you're more concerned with conserving system resources, this freeware program has a very small footprint.
Publisher's Description
From Mental9Production:
m9P Surfer is a very fast light weight Web browser developed by mental9Production. This Web surfer is extremely small in size, thus, consumes very little system resources, and it is very fast. Having many of the options and functionalities expected from a modern Web browser, m9P Surfer provides complete Internet surfing capabilities. m9P Surfer supports and manages Favorites and History.
One interesting feature of m9P Surfer, is that it will automatically detect your Internet Explorer Favorites and integrate them into its own Favorites menu. You will not loose any previously added Favorites. Also, you can import your Netscape Bookmarks. As for History, you can easily access your recent HTTP, FTP, or system files from the sidebar. Being so light, m9P Surfer can be considered as an alternative solution for users who want their computers to remain efficient and optimized to run other application, while also browsing the Web. Version 5.1 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"Worth the download."
Version: m9P Surfer 5.1
Pros
I run Windows XP serpk 3 and find that it opens web pages like yahoo mail, pogo and Toluna much faster than IE does. It has a very nice look and feel to it and is very light weight.
Cons
Will not erase browser history on exit (CCcleaner takes care of that). Can not find a way to export Favs. to flash drive. Last it seems that http://www.mental9production.com/ is not around so no updates or support. I do miss tab br..
Summary
I as a whole like it better than the other browsers I have used for it no frills get the job done approach. No tab browsing is a pain but for the ease of use I will put up with that. I think it is well worth the DL.

"Poor at best"
Version: m9P Surfer 5.1
Pros
Just another MSIE-dependent browser envelope. When WILL the world get away from dependency upon Trident???
Cons
May carry a trojan
Summary
I haven't seen anyone else reporting this yet, but something happened when I installed this browser for trial. A backdoor trojan of some kind started infecting SVCHOST.EXE and I had to rebuild my harddrive. Every few seconds, my AVAST popped up with a threat found in my user TEMP folder which was using SVCHOST.EXE.
Thank goodness for Imaging software. -
"Fast"
Version: m9P Surfer 5.1
Pros
I really like how this browser runs on an old P-166, low RAM, laptop. It's the default browser on there now. I haven't browsed extensively yet, but it hasn't crashed.
Cons
Nothing's perfect

"This version is slower than before."
Version: m9P Surfer 5.1
Pros
This release is more stable than previous versions.
Cons
Two toolbars, main and address. The claim to be fast is false. IE6 is faster, much faster and for being a small download, Avant is smaller, faster and more reliable. This browser lost my interest with this latest release. If you download this you'll uninstall as I did after 10 minutes of surfing with false hopes.
