Monitor network traffic, Web site feeds, and more with this efficient utility for experienced users. Logview4net's simple interface hides a powerful utility. The program's ConfigureSession wizard takes a few sessions before its options become second nature to set. However, the short and informative Help file will quickly turn those with some network experience into power users.

Logview4net's forte is listening to User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports and similar real-time data broadcast objects. The program uses preconfigured Listeners to monitor Event Logs, Files and Folders, RSS and Atom feeds, SQL data tables, and UDP ports. Setup is very simple as the user merely chooses a Listener type and fills out a few fields. It's very easy to invoke several Listeners at a time, though more than one of the same type can cause a program error. Our testers also commented that the program would occasionally fail on a bad URL. The app uses easy pull-down menus to filter out or highlight data.

Logview4net makes it easy to monitor multiple machines or multiple aspects of a single system. Except for the rare Listener failures, we found this a useful app. Data is presented clearly and quickly. System administrators and experienced tinkerers will find that this freeware is a must-have utility.
